Jingmai Dapingzhang Ancient Tree Sheng Pu’er Tea

2020 Material · Golden Melon Shape · 1 kg

A 1 kg Golden Melon Raw Pu’er Tea made from 2020 ancient-tree material from Dapingzhang Old Tea Forest, one of the core areas of Jingmai Mountain.

Jingmai Mountain is now recognized as the Cultural Landscape of Old Tea Forests of the Jingmai Mountain in Pu’er, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023. The heritage landscape preserves a tea-growing tradition practiced by the Blang and Dai peoples for more than a thousand years.

And within Jingmai, Dapingzhang is one of the areas we value most.

Not Just a Decorative Pu’er

Pu’er tea is often made into unusual shapes—melons, mushrooms, balls, towers, and other decorative forms.

But there is an important difference between a tea that is made to be displayed and a tea that is actually made to be enjoyed.

Many unusually shaped Pu’er teas on the market use lower-grade tea material simply because the finished product is primarily intended as decoration.

This Golden Melon is different.

The shape is decorative, but the material is not.

It is made from ancient-tree tea material harvested in 2020 from Dapingzhang Old Tea Forest.

You can display it as a beautiful traditional tea object, but when you are ready, you can also break it open and drink it.

Dapingzhang · The Heart of Jingmai

Jingmai is famous among Pu’er drinkers for its distinctive high and elegant fragrance.

The Dapingzhang area sits within this celebrated tea landscape, and its old tea forests are specifically documented within UNESCO's World Heritage materials. UNESCO also identifies the old tea forests, surrounding forests, traditional villages, and long-standing tea cultivation practices as key elements of the protected cultural landscape.

For us, Dapingzhang represents one of the most prized areas of Jingmai Mountain.

If you are looking for the characteristic fragrance of Jingmai, this is the kind of material worth exploring.

2020 · Already Entering Its Mature Stage

The tea material dates back to 2020.

After several years of natural aging, the tea has already undergone meaningful transformation.

The original character of the raw Pu’er has begun to soften and integrate, while the tea develops greater depth and a more mature drinking experience.

You can drink it now, or continue to store it and watch it evolve.

For collectors, this gives the Golden Melon two lives:

A beautiful tea object today.
A developing Pu’er collection piece for tomorrow.

The Golden Melon Shape

The Golden Melon shape has a particularly auspicious meaning in Chinese culture.

Its rounded form resembles a traditional melon and carries associations with abundance, prosperity, completeness, and good fortune.

It is therefore especially suitable as a tea gift, a collection piece, or simply as a striking centerpiece on a traditional tea table.

But unlike a purely decorative tea sculpture, this one has a much more important secret:

Inside the beautiful shape is real, drinkable ancient-tree Pu’er.

A Tea to Display · A Tea to Drink · A Tea to Keep

You can place it in your tea room and enjoy its traditional form.

You can keep it as part of a Pu’er collection.

Or, when the moment comes, break off a portion and begin drinking it.

There is something particularly satisfying about owning a tea that can exist as both an object of traditional tea culture and a living tea that continues to change with time.
