Celadon Incense Burner with Suanni Lid
A Quiet Beast, A Fragrant Offering
As mist rises in the mountains, so too does the fragrance from this celadon incense burner—gentle, serene, and timeless. Crafted in the style of Song dynasty ceramics, its glaze is soft and jade-like, glowing with inner light.
Perched atop the lid is a mythical creature:
Suanni — the Smoke-Loving Child of the Dragon.
Suanni: The Smoke-Loving Son of the Dragon
According to classical texts such as Huailu Tang Ji by Li Dongyang of the Qing dynasty, Zihui Bu, and Guang Qunfang Pu, Suanni is one of the fabled Nine Sons of the Dragon.
▍It is said that:
– Suanni resembles a lion, sitting like a cat with solemn grace.
– It delights in stillness, and is drawn to incense and smoke.
– Ancient craftsmen often sculpted it atop incense burners, believing it to ward off evil and bring peace of mind.
And so it is here—Suanni rests atop the lid, mouth agape, releasing fragrant curls of smoke like a guardian spirit made of cloud.
The body of the burner draws inspiration from Han and Tang bronze vessels. Its tripod form reflects the harmony of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity.
Entirely handcrafted—thrown, glazed, and kiln-fired—each piece bears unique traces of time and flame: fine crackles, glaze tears, and subtle imperfections that echo the kiln’s voice.
Note: This incense burner is designed exclusively for use with coil incense.
|Where fragrance rises, peace follows|
Let Suanni guard your space,
and hold still the drifting world.
