Handcrafted | Huanglongshan Original Ore Jiangpo Ni | Classic Ziye Shipiao Form

In the world of Yixing teapots, “Shipiao” is a form that stands firm—triangular, stable, rooted like a mountain. Among Shipiao variations, the Ziye Shipiao is known for its literati refinement: gentle sloping shoulders, precise lines, and a spirit that blends elegance with strength.

This 120cc teapot is handcrafted entirely from original ore Jiangpo Ni—a rare clay from Huanglongshan, known for its golden-brown hue and excellent porosity. The balance of form and material makes it ideal for serious gongfu brewing, enhancing aroma and aftertaste with every pour.

Clay: Huanglongshan Jiangpo Ni

Jiangpo Ni (降坡泥), sourced from the famous Huanglongshan mine, is a high-quality Yixing clay characterized by its warm ochre tone and soft sandy texture. It has excellent breathability and a moderate firing shrinkage, making it prized among seasoned potters for its natural texture and ability to nurture tea over time.

Unrefined, natural, and temperamental—it speaks to those who value authenticity over perfection.

Form: Ziye Shipiao (子冶石瓢)

The Ziye variation of the Shipiao teapot pays tribute to Chen Mansheng’s disciple, Hui Mengchen, who refined the literati teapot aesthetic. Unlike heavier, more muscular Shipiao shapes, the Ziye Shipiao is light in spirit, with an upward energy that balances its triangular base.

The three-point stance is stable, the spout sharp and responsive, the knob round and proportionate. It pours with clarity, seals with precision, and sits in the hand like a well-weighted brush.
