Product Description
Ambergris—known as “floating gold”—is one of the rarest natural aromatics on earth. Formed over decades within the digestive tract of sperm whales, this extraordinary substance is later cast out into the open sea, shaped by sun, wind, and salt, before being gathered along distant shores. Once used only by royalty and emperors, ambergris was a treasured component in ancient perfumes, incense, and spiritual rites across civilizations.
This handcrafted incense uses finely powdered natural ambergris as its sole aromatic note, pressed into traditional stick form. Each stick is approximately 21 cm long, and a full box contains about 20 sticks (10g total), designed for slow, clean burning—about 45 minutes per stick.
The scent is unlike any other: it begins with a cool oceanic breeze, slightly salty and mineral-rich, then unfolds into a creamy, musky warmth with sweet, powdery undertones. The aroma is soft yet persistent, subtle but enveloping—lingering in the space long after the ember dies.

Cultural Notes
In ancient China and the Middle East, ambergris was burned not only as incense but also as an offering to deities, or worn in sachets to attract calm energy. In Europe, it was blended into court perfumes and candles used in royal chapels. Today, genuine ambergris remains exceedingly rare and precious—more often spoken of than truly experienced.
To encounter this fragrance is to smell something almost extinct, something beyond botanical. It is not plant, not wood, not flower—but ocean, time, and transformation.

Our incense is entirely handcrafted — never machine-made. We work exclusively with a family-owned incense atelier that dates back to 1404. This lineage once served the imperial court during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and today remains an official partner of the Palace Museum (The Forbidden City).
Due to the artisanal nature of our incense and the long-distance shipping involved, occasional breakage may occur — a natural trace of its handmade origin. As a gesture of appreciation, we offer a complimentary incense holder with every purchase of stick or coil incense. If you are sensitive to this, we kindly suggest reconsidering before placing your order.
